Apple has some major competitor in the smartphone market, but the same is not the case with the tablet. Apple’s iPad Pro is ruling the tablet market since its Inception. No Android or Windows tablet is capable enough to compete with the iPad. On the other hand, the company is claiming its iPad Pro as a perfect replacement for a laptop. Truly, an iPad is a great device to have, but there are multiple reasons why it can’t replace a laptop, at least for now.
The Limited Browsing Options
The browsing experience with the iPad is not satisfactory at all. It seems like more of a smartphone browser rather than a desktop. Most importantly, there is no bookmark bar with this iOS device. Besides, you can’t do some basic work like editing your Google doc on its browser.
Lack of Thunderbolt 3 Port
All the recent iPads, including the 2020 version, has fewer number of ports. The phone features with a single USB TYPE C port, which will limit you from multitasking. Therefore, you need to buy an adopter for connecting the device with a larger display.
Limited Storage Option
The entry-level MacBook Air comes with 256 GB of internal storage. But on the other hand, at the same price, the iPad Pro has a 128 GB storage. Having less storage will directly impact your day to day activities. Relying more on iCloud is going to be an expensive option to store your data.
Expensive Accessories
iPad only can be a replacement of a laptop when it comes with a keyboard. iPad Pro 12.9 inch will cost you 999 USD. But if you include the cost of a magic keyboard, you have to spend 1349 USD. On the other hand, you can buy an entry-level MacBook Pro 13 inch variant at 1299 USD.
