Xiaomi has launched its flagship MI 10 in the Chinese market for a while. Currently, the company is preparing for the global release of its flagship smartphone series. Previously, the company announced the scheduled date of the 27th of March as the Global release date of the device.
Recent rumours suggest that the Indian market might able to access the smartphones in a bit earlier than the rest of the world. The Xiaomi India CEO, Manu Kumar Jain, recently tweeted from his official Twitter handle about the arrival of a 108 MP camera phone. As only Mi 10 and Galaxy S20 Ultra are offering the 108 MP camera, it is clear that Mi 10 is coming to India.
The Expensive Flagship is going to be More Expensive
However, in a follow-up tweet, he confirmed that the device would be costlier than the expectation. He showcased three reasons for the possible cost increase. Firstly, the MI 10 will be a direct import from Mainland China; therefore, it will be subjected to the high tariff by the Indian Administration.
Secondly, the recent increase in GST is not going to help in keeping the cost down. Recently, Apple also increases the cost of its flagship iPhones, owing to the higher GST rate. Thirdly the continuously depreciating rupee value will also play an important role in the cost increase. In the Chinese market, the base variant of Mi 10 priced at around 4300 INR. On the other hand, MI 10 Pro version has a starting price of 53000 INR.
Now, it seems like Amazon will sell the flagship Mi 10 in the Indian market. However, the official Mi portal will also carry out the sales of the smartphone.
