Veteran Odia film and theatre artiste Raimohan Parida, who is known for his negative roles, was found dead at his residence in Prachi Vihar area of Bhubaneswar on Friday. He was 58. Parida is survived by his wife and two daughters. Many actors visited Parida’s residence to express condolences. Parida has acted in over 100 Odia films and 15 Bengali movies. Expressing shock over Raimohan’s death, noted actor Siddhant Mahapatra said “It is hard to believe that such a jolly person, who has experienced several ups and downs in life, can think of doing something like this. He was highly successful in the profession.” “What led him to driving something like this is unbelievable,” he added.
Another actor Sritam Das said it was unbelievable that Parida, who had become a “hero from zero” could die by suicide. Raimohan is one of the top most Jatra actor of Odisha. He was a famous villain in Odia Jatra world. Parida is a recipient of Odisha State Film Award. He has also got Abhinandia puraskar.
Prima facie, it seems to be a suicide case but further investigation is underway, a police officer said.
