Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was the longest-serving Prime Minister in Japan’s political history. Hailing from a Political background, Shinzo Abe proved himself capable enough to win 2017, his fourth-time four-year term Prime Minister election.
Early Life
Shinzo Abe was born on 21st Sept 1954 to a politically influenced family whose grandfather and uncle served as the Prime Ministers of Japan. The Abe family’s influence greatly influenced Japan’s political history in the pre-war and post-war eras. Occupying a powerful position, the Abe government had always been the responsible leader of Japan, carrying the Island country rich in technology and economy. Japan is the only non-missile country in the world but has the capacity and capability to develop a nuclear weapon within a year.
Shinzo Abe was the second child of his parents and always had a tilt toward politics. He pursued his schooling in Japan and did his bachelor’s and master’s from the US in Political Science and Public Policy. He began his political career in Japan’s lower parliament in 1993.
Political Life
Shinzo Abe was the longest servig pri einister of Japan. He emphasized domestic and foreign policy from his first term till the fourth. He also emphasized much on security policy.
Shinzo Abe is very much aware of how the Island country had been targeted, creating a history of the deadliest atom bomb on the soil of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. With the lessons given in the past, Shinzo abe always tried to maintain and upgrade the security policy as well.
In the first term(2006-2007), Shinzo Abe emphasized domestic, foreign, and defence. In the second term (2012-2014), Prime minister Shinzo Abe made sure the domestic and foreign policy policies continued.
The turning point in Abe’s political career was the introduction of “Abenomics” in 2012, where he employed a long-term strategic vision of economic policies, which pushed billions of dollars into Japan’s economic growth. After which technological and economical development flourished in Japan economical and technological development.
Assassination
On 8th July 2022, during a speech, Shinzo Abe was gunshot by a 41-year-old gunman with two bullets, one on his neck and the other on direct tohis heart from behind. The gunman expressed no regret but claimed that he was unhappy with the Abe government, which is why he took the step of hitting the Prime Minister. The body, on 9th July 2022, was handed over to the family for further ritual. World leaders around the globe like Indian Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi, US then-President Barack Obama and other celebrities from the entertainment industry and other public figures showed sympathy and support to Abe.
Honours
Along with hundreds of honours and Awards, Shinzo Abe received Padma Vibhusan in 2021 at the age of 66 for his exceptional and distinguished service in the field of public affairs.
The Padma Vibhusan is the second-highest civilian award after the Bharat Ratna, given to everyone irrespective of race, occupation, or position.
