India is currently observing the first day of the 21 days long Nationwide lockdown. All the non-essential services will remain closed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that maintaining social distance is the soul solution to counter the Coronavirus outbreak. Therefore, he advised the countrymen to isolate themselves for the next 21 days in order to combat the virus. Experts are predicting that such measures will be effective in the long term. However, India, the fastest growing economy in the world, has to face the consequences of such long lockdown. The police administration will take care of the nationwide lockdown. However, people can access their essential goods and services which are necessary for living.
By now, the country has seen as many as 562 positive coronavirus cases. Besides, ten people have already died due to this recent outbreak. However, the number looks pretty small in comparison to other countries. Such a low number is surprising due to its geographical location and high population.
Reason Behind India’s Success against the Outbreak
India has enough reasons to be among the worst affected countries due to the recent outbreak. Firstly, India is sharing a long border with China, which was the epicentre of the ongoing outbreak. Secondly, the country is among the leading tourist destinations across the globe. Besides, its high population and poor health infrastructure make the country a potential target for the virus. But, there is one thing that goes in India’s favour, its young population.
The report suggests that the chances of death are only .2% for those having an age between 20 to 40. The mean age for India currently stands at only 29. The high immune system is one of the primary reasons for India’s success against the virus.
