Melania Trump has criticised late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel after he made a joke about her just days before the recent shooting scare at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
During his show last Thursday, Kimmel joked about Melania while talking about the annual event. He said she looked like an “expectant widow,” a remark that later sparked controversy after the shooting incident happened on Saturday.
In a post on X, Melania called the joke “hateful and violent.” She said people like Kimmel should not be allowed into homes every night to spread hate. She also urged ABC to take action against the comedian.

She added that his comments were not comedy and only made political tensions in America worse.
Donald Trump also reacted strongly on Truth Social. He said many people were angry over Kimmel’s comments and claimed the joke was a call to violence. Trump said Kimmel should be removed from ABC and Disney immediately.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also condemned the remarks, calling such rhetoric “completely deranged.”
The controversy grew after a gunman opened fire near a security checkpoint at the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night. Trump and Melania were safely evacuated, and no harm was reported to them.
The suspect, identified as Cole Tomas Allen, was detained by security agents and is expected to appear in court.
