The Hindi-language sports drama movie was written and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The film was produced by Aamir Khan, who stars alongside debutant Gracy Singh and the British actors Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne.
The movie is based on the late Victorian period of the British colonial era, where central India and the inhabitants were burdened with heavy taxes amid a severe drought. The movie picturizes the arrogant attitude of the British Raj and the British Indian Army officers. The movie showcases a cricket match between the Britishers and the Indian villagers with a deal of relaxing taxes if the Indians win. The movie beautifully portrays the emotion of Indian hearts to fight for life, comfort, and a good living back days. A movie with true emotion and a nationalist feeling arising masterpiece.
