As per the latest report, the famous social media platform Twitter is now testing “Fleets,” its new features. These are the posts that will disappear after 24 hours. However, this feature is currently only available in Brazil.
As per the official notification, the new feature will let the users post short-lived content on Twitter. Different from Tweets, the new Fleets won’t receive Retweets, likes as well as replies. Once published, the posts will disappear from the timeline after 24 hours.
Something more about the new feature
Fleets are a little less accessible, and one can see the fleets of a person even if they are not following that person. However, the Fleet will not show up in Search or Twitter’s network. Besides, one can’t embed the Fleets on a website.
Well, this feature is not a new thing. Snapchat first introduced such a feature. Now, it has successfully reached some popular platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. Besides, Spotify is also testing a Story-like feature.
What makes Twitter introduce this new feature?
While announcing about this, the product lead at Twitter, Kayvon Beykpour, stated that most people don’t feel comfortable in tweeting. The reason is their tweets can be viewed and replied by anyone. But with Fleets, people can share the fleeting content, where the viewers can only interact with the Fleets and its publisher through direct messages. They can react to Fleets using emojis.
In Brazil, the users will find a rounded profile icon located their Timeline’s right top corner. That will be recognized as the “Story Feature.” The users will have to tap in the “+” button to write Fleeting content and post. They can add videos, GIF’s and photos as well.
However, for now, Twitter has informed that it is working to determine which Fleets to show first. That will be done on the basis of mutual follows and recency.
