Odisha completes its first phase of lockdown on 19th May at 5 am. S.C Mohapatra, the state’s chief secretary, announced that the state would undergo a second stage of lockdown till 1st June thereon. The state will observe a complete weekend shutdown. Only hospitals and medical shops are permitted to operate. Five hours of relaxation from 6 am to 11 am will be given for purchasing essential items. The Odisha lockdown news made the people of Odisha prepare for the next few days.
The government has also limited the number of attendees in a wedding from 50 to 25 people. Only 20 people can attend thread ceremonies or funerals. The guests will be given off packet foods in the functions. The bus services will also remain on hold till 1st June.

The Yaas cyclonic storm passed the Odisha-West Bengal coasts on 26th May. The Odisha government allowed the shops to remain open on 24th and 25th May. People were permitted to buy more essential items before the impact of the cyclone. The government has appointed a rescue team.

New cases of more than 10,000 per day have continued to rise. People can board personal vehicles and autorickshaws for emergencies. The government has asked the state for an extension of the lockdown to curb the increase of cases.
Colleges and educational institutes continue to observe closure until further notice. Western Odisha districts bordering Chattisgarh have reported a decline in the covid rates. The continuous lockdown is showing a positive result on the state.
