India has reported 13,216 new Covid-19 cases after a gap of 113 days. The rising Covid cases have claimed 23 lives in the last 24 hours, as per the government statistics updated on Saturday.
The highest Covid cases recorded are in hilly states of Himachal Pradesh due to tourist visits in the hilly states recording the higher national average. The rest states following are Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Goa, with a 42% growth rate.
Punjab is recorded with a 92% growth rate with 65 fresh cases. Haryana is listed with a 32% growth rate, with 1617 patients undergoing treatment, following other Indian states with low fatality rates.
June has seen a gradual rise in Covid cases in India, with 12,213 new cases recorded on June 16. A 39% surge from the day statistics are being recorded. Maharashtra and Kerala see a significant leap in the post-covid cases. While Maharashtra recorded 4,024 new cases, Kerala saw 3,488 new infections. Together, they had the highest number of active cases post June 17.

India’s concern post-pandemic was casually handled. Hence, the Indian Medical Association urges the citizens to take proper precautions and safety measures.
