On 9th September 2024, Akhil Kumar Mishra took charge as Additional Director General of Press Information Bureau and Central Bureau of Communication. Mr Mishra is a 1999-batch Indian Information Service (IIS) officer. He took charge as ADG in the above-mentioned organizations under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the state government.
Along with the charge of Bhubaneswar PIB and CBC, Akhil Kumar Mishra will take additional charge of Ranchi PIB as well. Besides being ADG, he will also serve as Additional Press Registrar General of Odisha. Before this, he was serving as ADG of PIB Ranchi.

Mr. Mishra had served various important positions in All India Radio, Regional Outreach Bureau, Bhubaneswar, Central Board of Film Certification, Doordarshan, PIB AND CBC of various states.

Apart from his professional work, he is a good poet, adored by a lot of audiences. He writes poetry in both Odia and English. On 23rd May 2024, he released his 8th Odia Poetry Collection book on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. In a small gathering of 15 to 20 people, he released his book “Jibanara Aaina” (The Mirror of Life) at Sriram Temple, CDA, Cuttack. He took it to the X and shared photos from that day along with the caption, “Release of my 8th collection of Odia Poetry____”Jibana Aainaa” (THE LIFE MIRROR) on the occasion of Buddha Purnima. The poems deal with life experiences and expectations in contrasting situations as we encounter.”
Similarly, Akhil Kumar Mishra has written other Odia Poetry books like ‘Mahanadi O Anyanya Kabita’ (Mahanadi and other Poems), ‘Anyamanaska Rutu’ (A Season Inattentive), ‘Smruti’ (Memory), ‘Sei Samparka’ (That Relationship) and ‘Swapna Samay’ (The Dream Time).
