On Tuesday, a youth from Bhubaneswar named Mrutynjay jumped into the Mahanadi River from Jobra barrage in Cuttack.
The personnel of the Odisha Fire Services Department have been searching for his body for two days. According to their officials, they are doing two operations simultaneously, one in Jobra and another one in Madhusudan Setu.
Why did he suicide?
Upon investigation, his family members said that he had lost a lot of money over online trading. He has already lost ten lakhs. He invested in online trading by taking loans from banks. After the first loss, he started taking money from his relatives. But recently, he again lost four lakh rupees. That incident shattered him from the inside.
A relative of Mrutynjay said, “We had not asked for money. He had withdrawn money from his savings account. He used to repay the bank from profits. Recently, two days back, he had lost 4 lakh rupees.”
Before committing suicide, he sent a text to his sister. That text goes like this, “I have committed a mistake. Don’t search for me and I have lost.” While he was devastated by this huge loss, his relatives were patient and sure that he would pay back if he worked hard. To quote one of his relatives, he said, “We had told him to work hard and repay the money. His morale broke after the recent loss, and he could not cope with the pressure.”
What is the current status?
The rescue team is trying hard to find the body. But they have not been successful yet. However, they are hopeful about tracing out the body.
