American tech giant Apple traditionally launches its premium-class devices during September. But, recent leaks suggest that the company is considering to postpone its scheduled launch event. There are a number of reasons contributing to the rumoured delay, including the ongoing coronavirus endemic.
Apple’s 5G Aspiration
Previously, the leaks confirmed that the upcoming iPhone 12 is going to be the first-ever 5G smartphone from the premium smartphone manufacturer. Despite being the industry leader, Apple is quite late to implement 5G technology on its smartphones. Its competitor, like Samsung and Huawei, already successfully implemented 5G technology in their respective devices. Even some of the lower-end Chinese smartphones include the tech. Now, it seems like the company is taking a conservative approach for its 5G adaptation, as Apple does not want its five first 5G phone to be faulty in any aspect. Additionally, the ongoing Corona outbreak is affecting Apple’s supply chain and manufacturing facility, especially in China.
Besides, the ongoing two-way travel ban to China is also affecting the development of the upcoming iPhone 12.
Apple is Expecting Low Demand for the Expensive iPhone 12
According to industry experts, the company is concerned about the sales number of the upcoming iPhone 12. As the global economy is on the verge of collapse, people are not going to upgrade their existing iPhones, unless it is unusable. Therefore, Apple is planning to delay its proposed lunch to make its first 5G phone a massive hit.
However, the discussion is currently going on and the company yet to make a final call. But, it seems like Apple is planning to postpone the proposed launch to the next year, 2021. If the report comes true, then you might see the launch of the entry-level iPhone 9, aka iPhone SE 2 during the September.
