2 including minor killed as school gate falls on them in Rourkela

In a sad incident, two employees, including a minor, of a private school were killed after the gate of the educational institution fell on them at Sector-9 area in Rourkela on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Gandhiram Rout, 58, and Suresh Choudhury, 16. The huge iron gate of Vikash English Medium School fell on the employees while they were trying to shut it down at around 11 pm. However, on which circumstance, the gate fell on them is yet to be ascertained.

“The incident happened at around midnight. But we came to know about it in the morning. The management committee of the newly founded school is fully responsible for the tragic incident. Had the accident happened in the daytime, many more lives would have been lost,” said a relative of the deceased.

“My uncle was working in the school for the last one year. We will lodge a complaint with the police against the lackadaisical attitude of the erring management committee members. We demand stern action against them,” he said.
